Caen city of art and history,

The city has flourished in the eleventh century when William the Conqueror made it his favorite residence. Two months of bombing in 1944 have not been  completely destroyed the city. If the center was  completely destroyed, the two magnificent abbeys founded by Duke William and Queen Mathilde escaped the massacre. The ducal castle still dominates the town « with a hundred spiers. » It contains the Museum of Fine Arts and the Museum of Normandy.

Built in 1998 the Caen Memorial museum is unique in Europe. This is a museum for peace. Won several awards for its hospitality and its rich museum quality content, the visit takes place in four stages, to understand the history of the twentieth century. It takes at least 4 hours to begin exploring this museum.
